Create a simple subscription box on your blog using feedburner

If you don’t want to go through the hassles of setting up databases, knowing php or html or even paying for autoresponder services. You can use FeedBurner to place an opt in subscription box on your blog and then send out mass emails using your email client. I haven’t done any video tutorials in a while, so I will be showing you guys how to do this via video.

In the meantime, for those who are unable to watch video, this is what you need to do.

First you will need to log into your feedburner account, after you are authenticated click on the title of feed your and then onto the ‘publicize’ button up the top.

You will then be brought to a page called ‘Publicize your Feed’. On the left hand side there is a link titled ‘email subscriptions’ give that a click. You will be brought to another page  which should give you some information regarding email subscriptions with FeedBurner and what they entail.

Go ahead and click the ‘activate’ button, after you email subscription is activated all you need to is copy and paste the code in the first box somewhere on your blog. I prefer to set up a text widget on my sidebar > and just copy the code into there.

After you have set up your feed, go back to the same FeedBurner page, on the left under ‘email subscriptions’ you should see a link titled ‘communication preferences’, this is where you have the option to change the text and message that all new subscribers receive along with the email they will receive the emails from.

Thats pretty much all there is to it, you can play around with some of other settings, such as delivery options, branding etc. Now after people start to opt in, FeedBurner will begin to list their emails and details under the subscribers page.
