How to set up a static IP Address
Many people have dynamic (changing) ip address’ these days. This is all good, however if you are using torrent applications or other applications that require you to forward a port and if you have a dynamic ip address you are going to need to forward that port each time the ip address on your computer changes. Well here is a quick video tutorial on how to set up a static ip address on your computer.
Here is a quick written guide too, for those who can’t watch videos for whatever reason.
1. Start > Settings > Network Connections
2. Select the network connection you use to connect to the internet > right click > properties > networking tab > click on ‘internet protocol version 4′ item and click on properties.
3. Go back to start > run > cmd > “ipconfig /all” .
4. Find your ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns server.
5. Go back to network connections window and check the box that says ‘use the following ip address’. Enter in all the above details and click ok.
6. Click close and there you have it.
