Ultra portable laptops of 2008
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the new Asus Eee Pc series, there have been many mixed feelings towards the 9 inch wonder. However, I am here to tell you to look into the other dozen or so ultra portable laptops that have come out or a scheduled for a release this year.
1. Â ECS G10IL
At about the same price as the 901 the ECS G10IL is in a league of its own.
Harvesting a potential 2gb ram, 80gb of storage space (unlike the 20gb capcity of the eee pc) and a plethora of expansion slots. For $500 and just under 1kg for the 8.9 inch and 2 pounds for the 10 inch this ultra portable laptop is a bargain to say the least.
2. Everex Cloudbook Max
Coming in at 2.2 pounds with a 2 megapixel webcam, the everex cloudbook packs quite a punch.
The 80gb of storage space is more then enough for any type of work or ‘play’ you are going to be doing on this pc. With Windows Vista as it’s OS and an immediate and astonishing 
2gb of ram. The everex cloudbook max is capable of upping the bar for the competition.
3. HP 2133 Mini-Note
Although heavier then it’s competitors at 2.8 pounds the HP Mini note does however fulfill many of the features that other ‘ultra portable systems’ are unable to.
Ram: 512mb - 2gb
Price: $499-$849
The 8.9 inch display does possess a significantly higher resolution than others such as the eee pc.
The mini note comes in at a res of 1280 x 768 while the asus eee pc posses’ a mere 800 x 480 pixels.
There are a few other main competitors for the spot of ultra portable laptop of 2008, however I believe the three mentioned above will be the ones most talked about in the near future. For a longer comprehensive list of ‘low cost ultraportables’ visit here.
