Use bittorrent for traffic generation
Why bittorrent is the epicenter of traffic generation
I talk about many traffic generation strategies on this blog and have gone over many different ways in which you can get more visitors to your site. Well today I’m going to tell you why the use of p2p and bittorrent are ESSENTIAL if you are looking for an easy way to get get some more targeted visitors to your homepage.
If you are not familiar with the way p2p works, simply put it’s users sharing files with one another, bittorrent on the other hand uses little meta data files called “torrents” which contain all the information regarding the actual file being downloaded.
Why is this beneficial for me?
Bittorrent has become one of the leaders in file sharing technology with over 10 million downloads PER day. Well usually larger or more popular torrents are released by “groups” which include their references in the title and description of the torrent. By this I mean their names, websites etc. Lets think about this for a second. Torrents usually get A LOT of downloads, I conducted a test on an ebook I downloaded from rapidshare and uploaded to a torrent website. Within a day I had received over 1000 downloads and about 100 click throughs to my site.
The technique is quite simple.
First you will need to determine the niche of your website, whether it be skateboarding, internet marketing, website design etc. Figure that out. So you will need to be targeting these bittorrent users, the ones interested in those things. How may one do this? By providing relevant titles and products.
Find a product related to your niche, if it’s skateboarding find a skateboarding video or magazine and upload it as a torrent file. Name it correctly, I prefer this method. [niche][title of product][mywebsite] So it would be “Skateboarding – Skateboarding Trick tips [skateass.com]” simple enough?
Now the majority of those people who are going to be searching for your niche “skateboarding” will be skateboarders themselvers. Ergo these people are going to be TARGETED users with a high chance of clicking through to your site, becoming members, buying things etc.
This isn’t only limited to bittorrent you could do this with p2p clients aswell, (e.g frostwire) just share your files with the correct names and if people are interested will click through. From my experience the CTR on bittorrent files is approximately 5-10% and the CTR on p2p clients is approximately 3-5%. This may seem like a small number but when you take into consideration that your file may get 5000+ downloads/views per week. That’s an average click through of about 300+ targeted visitors.
In conclusion, if you haven’t started doing this already I highly recommend it. The hard part is finding files which are not already located on torrent sites, although if you know where to look it isn’t that hard. I prefer ebooks.
