You should really start harnessing the power of WordPress

For those of you who know me personally, you have probably figured out that I’m a WordPress fanatic, after all it’s what 95% of my websites are made in. And why should they not be? WP is the most easiest, most customizable and most seo optimized CMS out there. I know there is a large debate between Joomla, Drupal and WordPress where people state that WordPress isn’t actually a content management system. In a way it isn’t, it has been created more as a blogging platform, but neverthless I still consider it to be a CMS.

I think the thing that most appeals to me is the customizablity that WordPress has. There are countless amounts of great free themes out there and even more premium themes that can tweak your wordpress blog to work like anything else. You’d be surprised how many major companies are using WordPress for their websites.

From a personal point of view, I recently set up the website Wheels In Films using a premium wordpress video blogging theme. I ran a little experiment and asked a group of 30 people what kind of platform they thought I was using for the site. A whopping 85% didn’t realize that it was actually WordPress running the site. It was unbelievely easy to get it up and running, within an hour I had a fully functional site with a bunch of content. If I was to hire an independant website developer it would have cost me at least $1000 and quite a long period of waiting.

I would also like to mention the buffet of plugins that are compatible with WordPress, similar to the “iphone apps” post earlier, you can customize your site in whichever way you see fit. All practically without any code hacking.

Besides all the splendid perks mentioned above, search engines LOVE wordpress. It is a proven fact that wordpress sites get indexed and ranked much faster than any other platform. As a matter of fact Joomla and Drupal are both quite slow.

The only real downside I see with WordPress is that you receive a lot of comment spam and user registrations, but ultimately you can turn off the ability to comment and register if you don’t require that for your website.

In my opinon a little WordPress site, set up in a few minutes with a little bit of content, a good idea and a nice theme will yield you instant results. So if you are planning on paying a developer to make you a website, I recommend you take a look at WordPress first because I guarantee you will end up with more money in your pocket
