Get Windows 7 Looking Icons On Your Task Bar

There has been a lot of talking regarding the new Windows operating system called “Windows 7″. The new system has a buffet of new features both visual and technical and today I’m going to show you how you can get the stylish taskbar icons on your Windows XP or Windows Vista systems.

This little tweak takes no more than a minute to complete and can get you up and running effortlessly.

Note: For XP systems you will need to play around with the values until you get the desired effect because reports have come in that they appear slightly altered if you follow the default value I set in this tutorial.

For those of you who don’t like reading, I have created a video tutorial just for you that is listed below the written tutorial.

- First off start by clicking on start > run and type in “regedit” into the run menu. This will bring up the registry editor on your system.

- You should see a few different collapsed folders on the left hand side, expand the folder that is titled “HKEY_CURRENT_USER”. Expand the folder called “control panel” and finally the folder titled “Desktop”. To conclude this step click on “WindowMetrics”

-  Right click in the box on the right hand side > New > String Value

- A new editable string should appear down the bottom of the screen, rename this to “MinWidth”. Right click on the newly created string and select the “Modify” option. Set the value to “-255″.

- That’s it! Now you just have to log off or restart your computer and you will notice the new icons on your taskbar.
